Our Story

Why we build playbooks for life.

Most children's financial literacy books are boring. They read like punishment. They hit kids over the head with lectures about saving pennies and balancing checkbooks while entirely missing how the real world actually works.

We wanted something that didn't feel like a textbook disguised as a story. Switched On Books was built to teach kids about pricing, profit margins, problem solving, and entrepreneurship by sneaking the lessons into fast-paced, highly illustrated, genuinely funny adventures.

The Playbook Series is our foundation. It's written for middle-grade readers (ages 8-14) who are ready to understand the hidden rules of the world around them, but absolutely refuse to read anything that feels like homework.

About the Author

Alex Almosawi

Alex Almosawi is an entrepreneur, property developer, and a full-time negotiator for his three boys.

After years of building businesses and structuring deals, Alex noticed a glaring gap in the traditional school system: it’s great at teaching kids how to memorize facts, but terrible at teaching them how to build systems, scale ideas, or actually make a dollar.

He originally wrote "The Playbook: Switched On" as a real-world cheat code for his own sons, to teach them financial literacy (and hopefully get them to stop asking him for extra pocket money). His mission is to arm the next generation with an entrepreneurial mindset long before the real world convinces them to just trade their time for a paycheck.

Alex lives in Australia with his family, where he splits his time between running his property development firm, dodging stray soccer balls in the hallway, and writing stories that make heavy business concepts genuinely fun for kids.
